Waterstone Media in 2016

January 27, 2016 by Ryan 22 Comments

January has been an excellent month for me, and it’s hard to believe that it has already almost gone.  I’ve been diving deep into The Wind and the Void, and I’m excited to bring this story to its conclusion.
I wanted to both say thanks and to keep you updated on what is happening behind the scenes here at Waterstone Media.  First, I do need to say thanks, to all of you.  Your support and kind words have been welcome, and I’ve enjoyed the emails, tweets, and facebook questions and comments.  It means a lot to me to be able to tell stories for a living, and you make it all possible.
2016 is shaping up to be a pretty big year for me here.  I will definitely be switching over to writing fiction full time, and I’m excited to be able to put more stories out this year.  Here’s the short version:
1.  My first and most important job is to finish The Wind and the Void and get it into your hands.  Right now, it looks as though it will be sometime in the month of March, but I should be able to commit to a firm date within the next 2-3 weeks.
2.  The Audiobooks from the Nightblade series are also in production.  I expect World’s Edge to be released in the first half of February, and The Wind and the Void to be released a month or two after the digital release.  I will let you know when they are finished!
3.  I do plan on seeking a traditional publishing deal this year.  It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and I’m hopeful that someday you’ll be able to see my work on your local bookstore shelves.
4.  Finally, I plan on writing and releasing at least three other stories this year, independently, in addition to wrapping up the Nightblade series.  I’m excited to write in some other worlds, and I hope you all will enjoy the stories!
Take care all, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re interested!
With gratitude,
Ryan

Hi Roberta – There are a number of ways. I’ll definitely announce a final date once I’m confident I can hit it. I’m expecting the first part of March right now. I’ll announce it here, on my newsletter, facebook, twitter, and I’m going to run a promotion on Amazon as well. Hopefully it will get to you!

      Hi Barbara,

Thank you for your comments. I also hope the ending lives up to expectations! I will say this about the ending, because I very much agree with you: it will finish the story. The series was always designed as a trilogy, and I don’t ever plan on expanding it. No cliffhangers, and hopefully nothing left unresolved.

      Thanks for reading!

Thank you so much! As an avid reader myself, I know the feeling of getting lost in a book and forgetting the other parts of life. Third book is getting closer every day!

Great book I loved the first two so far. You have great potential in the fictional book catogoty and could be something like the next Brandon Sanderson or another great author keep up the good work and I look forward to reading more of your work

      Wow, thanks Peter!

Brandon Sanderson is a pretty high standard, but I hope to keep writing and keep getting better. Thanks for your support!

Outstanding stories! I can’t seem to find the release info for the conclusion to nightblade though. Any chance of doing a prerelease for those of us who purchased the first two?

If you email me details I have credit card in hand.
    Thanks

      Awesome, thanks Bill!

I’ve been a little silent on the release front, mostly because I don’t want to commit to a date and then not be able to make it. The book is at the editor, and I’m hoping to have it out by the last part of March. I am confident that at the very latest it will be out by the first week of April.

I don’t think I’ll be doing a pre-sale for this book. I would like to get it out as soon as possible, so as soon as it’s finished it will be a public release. That being said, I will release the book at a lower price and then raise it a few days later to its normal price. Once I have a release date I will let everyone know via email, the website, twitter, facebook, and anywhere else I can think of.

Thanks for reading – I really appreciate it!

Just started this series, and I absolutely love it. It’s an amazing read. Still reading the first book, and I already can’t wait for more. I hate to compare peoples work, but this series reads like Rurouni Kenshin OVA meets Ninja scroll with a hint of memoirs of a geisha.. Still reading so my comparison may be a ways off. Either way I love it.

I don’t mind the comparisons – those are all wonderful works that I enjoy! I’m glad you’re liking it,

      Hi Jeremy,

Apologies for the relative silence! I’m hoping for end of March. At the very latest, I can promise the book will be published the first week of April. That I’ll give my word on.

      Thanks for your patience,

      Ryan

    Ryan,

Thank you for this amazing series. I do not normally come across characters so well-developed. It’s as if they areare real and I actually know them. As interesting as the story arcs are, they are definitely secondary to the respective inner journeys of the characters.

Then there are the descriptions of the scenery: the details are so well-crafted that they seem to flow naturally, not at all forced. I feel that I am there with the characters.

I do very detail-oriented work and I appreciate it when others take their time and see to details. It allows me to actually relax in my time off and not become an armchair editor.

    Again, many thanks!
