With the Nightblade world now at seven novels and a handful of short stories, I’ve decided it’s time to throw up a reading order!
To make it more complicated – I’ve decided to throw up two reading orders. Why? Because I’m not convinced one order is necessarily better than the other, and because I somehow ended up pulling a Star Wars-style approach to publishing the books. The original trilogy I wrote will end up being the middle trilogy within the world’s timeline, and Blades of the Fallen takes place far earlier than Nightblade. However, both trilogies were written to stand alone, so there’s no need to read them in any particular order.
So, without further ado, two reading orders!
First, the (mostly) chronological order, following the order in which events happen within the world.
- Nightblade’s Vengeance
- Nightblade’s Honor
- Nightblade’s End
- A Search for Home (short story)
- Blades of Shadow
- Nightblade
- Shigeru’s story (short story)
- No Way Home (short story)
- World’s Edge
- The Wind and the Void
Second, the order in which they were (mostly) written:
- Nightblade
- World’s Edge
- The Wind and the Void
- Shigeru’s story (short story)
- No Way Home (short story)
- Nightblade’s Vengeance
- Nightblade’s Honor
- Nightblade’s End
- A Search for Home (short story)
- Blades of Shadow
