Friday Fantasy (Now on Saturday!)

Top o' the morning all!

As always, I hope this email finds you doing well. My name is Ryan Kirk, and when I'm not sending out newsletters to scour the distant corners of the internet, I'm busy writing fantasy stories. Thanks for being here.

Life in my neck of the woods has been more chaotic than I'd like. Summer is always a difficult season professionally, and that feels like it's been doubly true this summer. I'm grateful for the flexibility that allows me to serve as primary kid-supervisor, but the nature of the family schedule means I'm generally working about ten hours a week, and the vast chunk of those are thanks to the kindness and generosity of grandparents.

In many ways, it's been an incredible summer. My daughter and I have done fun bike rides, gone fly-fishing and backpacking, and played enough basketball I finally got my shot back. That's all been wonderful, but I miss the opportunity to write more and keep up with the demands of running a business. We've only got a few weeks left of summer, and then it'll be back to the keyboard full-time!

Until then, I do have exciting news!

The Silence Between the Songs Arrives!

The penultimate book in Radyn and Kaya's adventures is here. Flying cities, dragons, and family. The forces gathering against the clans have begun their bid to silence for good the Song of the Engines, and once again, Radyn and Kaya stand in their way.

The digital book will release next Friday, August 22nd on my personal store and the Friday following, August 29th, on all the retailers.

It hasn't processed its way through the retailers’ databases yet, but it is available to pre-order on my website at a slight discount. If you're interested, you can get it here:

The Silence Between the Songs Ebook (Pre-Order)
Pre-order! This ebook will release on August 22nd, 2025. When the past refuses to stay buried, even paradise can become a battlefield. Radyn has found contentment at last: a pregnant wife, a thriving settlement, and the promise of laying down his blade forever. But as Underhill’s harvest festival reaches its peak, a de

A gift for you: "Roots of Silence"

My efforts to get all my short stories organized continue, resulting in this week's short story gift. This one is a departure from my usual fare, a very short horror fantasy that I'm really quite fond of. It was published several years ago in a winter horror anthology, and I'm making it public now for the very first time.

Fair warning, it is a horror story, and although I would call it more "creepy" than "scary," it's certainly a fairly intense piece. If you read it, though, I hope you enjoy.

You can find it on the website free for two weeks here:

Roots of Silence

And that's it for me today. I'll be back next week with retailer links and more!

Thanks for being here, and I hope you're doing well.
