April 25 Review
Top of the morning, all! I hope this finds you doing well. Going to try (again) a return to blogging, and I figured it wouldn’t be a bad way to start by diving into a bit of a review of the month of April. The month was a bit chaotic, but overall, it was a good one, and it set me up well for May.
What was perhaps most personally exciting for me was diving back into reading. I knew April was going to be a tough month to find time in, so I spent essentially every free moment in March pounding away on the keyboard. I’m glad I did, but my March reading felt pretty abysmal. In April I had more time. I finished six novels/novellas and twelve short stories. Pretty much everything was good, but the highlight was the shorter work of Janny Wurts. She’s rapidly becoming one of my new favorite authors, and her short work is just as good as her doorstoppers.
Writing was, as I expected it would be, pretty slow. I wrote somewhere in the vicinity of 25,000 words, which is pretty low for me. My main project at the moment is Song of the Fallen Swords 4, which I’ve been excited to write. As of today, I’m thinking that I’ll write 4 and 5 back to back, which should complete the series. I’m sure I’ll have more updates soon, but it’s a little early in the process to say much more.
The final big news was that I took my mother to Scotland, one of my favorite countries in the world. It was a fantastic trip and a much needed vacation. It was her first time overseas, and it was a pleasure to show her a place I’ve fallen in love with.
